CORONA VIRUS OR NO CORONA VIRUS, HERE IS THE DOWNSIDE OF SHAKING HANDS WITH PEOPLE
We are told that a wise king doesn't seek for war, but must always be ready for it.
Corona Virus or no Corona Virus, pandemic or no pandemic, we should always be ready to take care of our health and be mindful of our actions one unto another so as to save ourselves from miseries and regrets.
Handshake is what we often overlooked.
Shaking hands with people may be a means of exchanging greetings with people, but that does not rule out the fact that it has its downsides. The United States president, Donald Trump is said to be in the habit of not shaking hands with people, especially random folks. One could call it pride or superiority complex. But the fact is, shaking hands with certain people could render a person susceptible to transmittable infections or dirtiness of some sort.
The US President Donald Trump, known to be a man of good hygiene, particularly doesn’t shake hands with people in an effort to stay and keep staying infection-free. It is said that “health is wealth.” Playing down on your health is you making light of your wealth or foreseen wealth. So, when shaking people's hands, you might want to consider the following possible aftermath, especially in a time of an epidemic outbreak such as this.
1. THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE WHO DO NOT WASH THEIR HANDS AFTER TOILET:
Washing hands after using the toilet is personal hygiene that is thought at school and home alike. But quite lamentably, a number of persons are found lacking in this area of hygiene. Except you have personal knowledge of a person’s hygiene in this area, you might want to keep from shaking random folks.
2. PEOPLE OFTEN SCRATCH RASHES ON THEIR BODY:
Not everyone is cultured enough to know when to scratch rashes on their bodies or at the least, what to do to their hands after scratching rashes on their bodies. Shaking such a person could render you susceptible to undesirable skin rashes.
3. UPON RUNNING NOSE OR CATARRH, SOME PEOPLE DON'T MAKE USE OF HANDKERCHIEF:
Not everyone deems it necessary to employ the use of handkerchief when blowing their catarrh. As you know, catarrh is a communicable disease that can be transmitted just by being in close range with a carrier. Consider what happens when you shake hands with a carrier who blew his nose with his bare hands without washing them.
4. SOME PEOPLE ARE NATURALLY DIRTY:
The truth is that not everyone will uphold personal hygiene. An even bigger truth is that you don’t have to pay for their dirtiness by coming in contact with them via a handshake. Many people in the world are naturally dirty and are very far from being repentant about it. For them, it is normal, and body cleaning is just something to be done once in a day, in the morning to be precise.
5. SOME PEOPLE SWEAT A LOT:
Ordinarily, you wouldn’t hug a sweaty person on hygienic grounds. But then, the effect of hugging a sweaty person may not be too far-fetched in comparison to shaking a person with sweaty hands. A sweaty hand will always pass on some of its body waste to you which might jeopardize the state of your hand and whatever part of the body it touches.
6. A LOT OF PEOPLE DO NOT TAKE A SHOWER AFTER SEX:
As disgusting as this is, a lot of people still fall short in this area. So a person jumps off from bed after sex without taking a shower and you shake hands with him/her? Even couples become irritated with each other after sex if a good shower doesn’t quickly follow the act. How much more another person?
7. UNPLASTERED HAND INJURY:
While incurring an injury could be accidental, tending to that injury should be a conscious act. But suffice it to say that many adults walk around with unplastered injuries, looking forward to the day it will die off. Imagine such injury in a person’s hand and you get to shake him or her. That’s already an irritable imagination, not to mention such playing out in real life.
8. UNCULTURED BEHAVIOR:
Certain people are quite fond of squeezing other people's hands, not minding if the person welcomes such or not. In a bid to not have to fight your hand off a hand-squeezer, you might want to keep from shaking random folks. Other uncultured behaviors could include nose-picking, finger sucking, etc. Coming in contact with such persons via a handshake could see you falling prey to the woe of such uncultured behaviors.
9. SOME PEOPLE ARE NATURALLY WICKED:
While the above-listed points have to do with people’s carelessness with personal hygiene, this point makes it clear that certain people can be mischievous by purposely shaking hands with you even when they know their hands are messed up.
10. THE SEASON:
I would like to add that in a place like Africa, Nigeria in particular, where diabolism has taken over, an evil person could do something ugly to another person just by a mere shaking of the person’s hand. In the world, there’s been several reports and incidents of people either passing out or ultimately dying after a handshake. Therefore, taking caution when shaking hands with people is of the essence, otherwise, anything can happen.
Note: this does not in any way suppose that one should keep from shaking hands with other people in the course of their lives. But in keeping these downsides in mind, one readily knows what measures to embrace after shaking hands with someone who is likely to flaw in one or more of the above highlighted points. Better still, one could tow the path of Donald Trump, even though it projects him as a snub. But then, that seeming snub is the number one citizen of the world, and according to reports, he has no medical issues, not even one as little as malaria. Isn’t that awesome???
